National Good Neighbor Day

September 12 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Save the date and start thinking about which project you would like to volunteer for on Saturday, September 12. Registration opens July 30 for Oakland Park’s National Good Neighbor Day, a citywide celebration of community, connection, and service.

Residents, families, neighborhoods, and community groups are invited to volunteer for a local project, attend a community event, or organize an activity of their own. It only takes a few hours to make a meaningful difference, meet new people, and help build a stronger, more connected Oakland Park.

Two Ways to Participate

Volunteer for a Community Project

Choose from several hands-on projects taking place throughout the city:

  • Homebound Food Delivery: Pack food from 10 to 11 a.m. and make deliveries from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Lakeside Sand Pine Preserve Cleanup: 9 to 11 a.m.
  • Middle River Waterway Cleanup: 9 to 11 a.m.

Attend a Community Event

Short on time? You can still take part in Neighbor Day by attending a community event. Additional activities are being added, with confirmed events including:

  • Broward County Pet Wellness Clinic: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Backyard Composting Workshop: 2 to 4 p.m.

Have an idea for bringing your neighbors together? Organize a cleanup, donation drive, block gathering, or another community activity. Be sure to let the city know about your event so it can be included as part of Oakland Park’s National Good Neighbor Day celebration.

Whether you volunteer, attend an event, or organize an activity in your neighborhood, your participation will help make National Good Neighbor Day a success. Mark your calendar, decide how you would like to get involved, and be ready to register beginning July 30.
